This Little Light of Mine…Lasts 25 Years!

light change

Remember earlier this year when you had to climb up a ladder, and screw in all those light bulbs one by one? It’s kind of tedious and a bit annoying knowing that you will need to do this again as each light bulb inevitably burns out. Now, imagine if you never had to go up there and do that again. No more changing the light bulbs every 3 months or having part of your hallway lit for a week because you just don’t feel like going to the store and buying one light bulb that you know will need to be replaced again before the year is over.

pharox

With the Pharox LED light bulb, not only do you save massive amounts of energy, but it is also the “set it and forget it” of household lighting. A pharox bulb replaces your typical home 60 watt light bulb with one that is only 6 watts and is very sleek. It will fit in all of your standard household lighting fixtures and is constructed out of recycled materials. If you feel like setting the mood, the Pharox LED is also dimmable.

Compact Fluorescent light bulbs (CFLs) are on the market as an energy efficient alternative and were the method of replacement. However, CFLs have their downside. The type of light produced from a CFL bulb can cause some individuals to feel queasy if around them for an extended period of time and they have low durability. Also, CFLs have enough mercury in them to contaminate 6000 gallons of fresh water if they are broken.

The Pharox light bulbs are free from ultraviolet, mercury, and lead contaminants. With typical household usage, Pharox bulbs last 25 years which means once you put these in, that’s one less thing and expense you need to worry about.

I bought the iPharox Incandescent LED replacement bulb about a month ago from Kuuala.com for $48.96. So far this is the best LED replacement bulb I have come across thus far. I have tried others and failed. But the Pharox provides the same amount of light and renders the same color from that of your traditional energy hogging warm white incandescent bulb. I have replaced all of my lamps with the pharox as well as all accenting lights (these are great for that), and lights that are pointing down and can’t really tell the difference.

Some people may be comparing the lumen output and may think that due to the difference between the incandescent and the LED that it would not be as bright. The problem is that it is difficult to compare LED’s this way because incandescents shoot light 360 degrees and therefore the light output seems more but it is actually rating light that is not effective. When comparing the effectiveness of the light it is good to compare the lumens/watt output. Pharox is at an efficacy of 60 (lumens/watt) where a traditional bulb would be around 50. I suggest you try one and see for yourself.

I am throughly pleased with the bulb and my efforts to search for an alternative have slowed almost to a stop. Given the lifespan of this bulb, I wont have to change them ever again… what a great investment :)

Furthermore, my energy costs have been reduced (after changing about 15 of these around the house)albeit a small amount. However it’s hard to tell at this time because the cold has come and the heating costs have gone up and at the same time it’s only been a month. I will monitor the energy savings further and update the post.
