It’s a beautiful fall day, as you look out your window, watching the rainbow leaves fall as you are preparing that last barbecue before winter. The burgers are perfectly charred, the hot dogs and brats are pulsing, and stomachs are growling. The food is brought inside to the kitchen table through the patio door; simultaneously, a few of those last super insects, slip inside the screen door and head for the lights in the kitchen. Initially unnoticed, as the meal commences, the  bugs’ buzzing, humming, and fluttering of little wings by the ears of the eager diners, suddenly poses an annoyance to the ambiance of a nice dinner celebrating the changing of seasons. The bugs immediately, head for the light, seamingly to get out of the reach of their destroyers, posing an even more disturbing view for the homeowners. Why are they attracted the light? What if those lights did not attract the unwanted visitors? Can’t you just have a nice dinner with just the people invited, and no encounters from animals in a different phylum?

Solution. LED lights actually DO NOT attract insects or bugs that normally would be infatuated with your everyday light bulb. It has to do with the type of wavelength that is given off by the LED light. It just happens to be that insects, do not seek out the LED lighting wavelength, thus leaving you, your home, and your guests free of invasion! If there weren’t enough reasons to choose LED lighting already (i.e. lifetime, quality, efficiency, government rebates), you can chalk one more up for the LED bulb.
